Nutritional Epidemiology

Nutritional epidemiology is a relatively fresh domain of medical research that studies the relationship between nutrition and health. Diet and physical activity both are very difficult to measure accurately, which may to a certain extent explain why nutrition has received less attention than other risk factors for disease in epidemiology. It also examines the role of nutrition in the etiology of disease, monitors the nutritional status of populations, develops and evaluates interventions to achieve and maintain healthful eating patterns amongst populations, and also examines the relationship and synergy between physical activity in health and disease and nutrition.
